Our team provides consultancy services in the fields of customs procedure; customs planning and compliance. We also provide customs classification services and litigation against HMRC decisions. Our team conducts appeals and investigations throughout the UK and is based in the South East, London and the North-West. Because of our many years’ experience in this complex area of taxation we have developed a deep and comprehensive understanding of what is required to successfully resolve HMRC disputes.
George Kelly
George Kelly was formerly the Partner in charge of Customs advisory and VAT investigations at KPMG and has over 30 years experience in advising businesses on indirect tax compliance and planning matters. George Kelly has personally handled the largest HMRC customs duty investigation ever mounted in the UK leading to a successful outcome for the client. George Kelly has vast experience across all industries, and is a leading figure in the field of VAT, customs duty and excise duty investigations and technical advice. Prior to joining KPMG in 1989 he was a senior investigator with HMRC for 13 years. George has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Distinction) and is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. He lectures occasionally on business issues to university graduate and postgraduate students.
Keith Hobson
Keith Hobson has advised many large multi-national clients for over 25 years on all customs matters covering such areas as classification; transit guarantees; warehousing; repayments and remission and compliance failures leading to post-clearance demands. He has also advised clients in respect of VAT investigations having begun his career with HMRC in 1991 prosecuting VAT and excise duty evasion cases. Keith Hobson was called to the Bar in 1993 and qualified as a Solicitor in 2006. He has successfully appeared as an advocate in the Tax Tribunal on many occasions on behalf of clients.
